Importance of Field Setup

Many leagues have personnel in charge of field setup operations; their sole purpose is making sure all fields are ready for game day.

A field coordinator’s responsibilities include:

  • Layout and line field prior to the first game of the season, with continual upkeep throughout season.
  • Set up clean-up crew to police fields immediately following games.
  • Maintain and distribute benches and garbage cans prior to each week’s games.
  • Maintain and distribute field markers, line and down markers prior to games.
  • Coordinate chain crew assignments for each game with the teams involved and deliver them to the officials.
  • Insure that footballs and air pumps are available.
  • Submit proposed equipment and repair budget to the treasure from inclusion in program budget.
  • Coordinate portable toilets and dumpsters for season.
  • Make sure each head coach has a first aid kit and emergency action plan
  • Coordinate with concessions coordinator for any needs that may surface.
  • Give end of season report on suggested improvements for program.
