Youth football organizations across the country now have an opportunity to earn $2,500 for their league through Liberty Mutual’s Responsible Sports program.

From equipment upgrades and facility repairs to scholarship programs for families in need of assistance, the $100,000 Liberty Mutual has awarded to date has improved the lives of many youth athletes and families.

And your league can join the excitement, while learning how to teach valuable lessons and enrich the lives of players through positive role modeling.

Here’s what you need to do:

1. Go to Responsible Sports and search for your youth sports organization. If your organization is notlisted, tell your administrator to register at ResponsibleSports.com Organization Registration Page.

2. Complete the Responsible Sport Parenting or Responsible Coaching coursework and pass the ten-question quiz to receive your certification.

3. Make sure to credit your certification to your youth sports organization.

4. Rally other parents, coaches and administrators to participate in the program by downloading the promotional materials on the site and using the “spread the word” tool.

Remember, the more people that participate in the program, the better your chances are of winning the Responsible Sports Community Grant!

In 2007, youth football organizations from across the country participated in the Responsible Sports Community Grant Program. Winning organizations used their Responsible Sports Community Grant money to fund tournaments, cover registration fees, aid in field and equipment upgrades, and even to help purchase a team bus for transportation to games.

This is what one of the 2007 Community Grant winners had to say about winning one of the 20 Responsible Sports Community Grants:

The Responsible Sports program is a great compliment to and reinforcement of this ongoing effort to make all of our events a positive experience. We are thrilled that so many of our parents participated and look forward to continued participation with Liberty Mutual’s Responsible Sports program. The grant funds will become part of our 2008 operating budget, which includes some extraordinary expenses this year including new uniforms, and reconditioning of football helmets.

Did you know? If you received your certification last fall and your organization wasn’t one of the 20 winners, your certifications are still valid for the Community Grant period reopening this spring!
