Eighteen National Teams in Flag Football Converge in Quebec for International Championship

USA Football, the national governing body of America's favorite sport on youth and amateur levels, has assembled Men's and Women's U.S. Flag Football National Teams competing in the fourth International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Senior Flag World Championship in St.-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. The competition, held 30 miles southeast of Montreal, runs from July 25-27, and encompasses rosters from 18 national teams – six in the Women’s Division and 12 Men’s teams.

The IFAF Senior Flag World Championship, held every two years since 2002, is comprised of national teams with players 20 years and older. The 2008 tournament holds historic significance for the United States, representing the first time that America has competed in this competition in either division.

The U.S. Senior Women's Flag Team is composed of 11 members of the Independent Women's Football League's New York Sharks, a perennial powerhouse among the American women's tackle league which boasts of more than 40 teams. The Sharks have selected Team USA's players from its 60-woman roster, which has a nine-season record of 80-16 (.833) with seven division titles and a league championship.

The U.S. Senior Men's Flag Team is an all-star collection of experienced flag football players from the Boston-area, selected by USA Football.

The IFAF Senior Flag World Championship calls for five-on-five play. Both Team France squads won the 2006 tournament's gold medals. A recap of previous IFAF Senior Flag World Championships:
