I'm 36 now, and I played minor league football for eight years.
I haven't played the last three year due to my health. But here's my story: I never played HS football or college. I have always loved the sport. I get angry when i see so many pro athletes ruin the game.
When i was 25 and working in the EMS field I was doing a standby at a minor league game. I never heard about minor league football and at 5-foot-10 and 240 pounds always thought I was too small, at least thats what many people told me but i never let it stop me.
I tried out for the MI Twisters the next season. I made the team and learned alot about friendship, team play. The owner was my biggest supporter. He taught me to learn, listen and play hard. He tought me to train hard and win easy. I never gave up and eventually developed into a good player. Never did i let my shortness stop me. I always had a smile on my face. I lined up against ex-NFL'ers, college players and when I showed them i wouldn't be easy to handle it was me that put fear into their hearts. Now my two sons look up to me because I learned and showed them no matter how small you are or what people say, fight for what you love and achieve your dreams.
I did it for them and myself. I ended my career with a national championship. I have developed great friendships that have lasted to this day.
